Kindergarten March Newsletter The school year is half over now. The students are adjusting to the routine of the day without rest time. So, please make sure your child is getting plenty of sleep. Many of the kindergarteners are exhausted about midday. In our classroom we are getting ready for our transportation unit. We will learn about the different types of transportation through stories, observation, and hands-on activities. In Math we are finishing our measuring unit. The kindergarteners learned about height, weight, and capacity. The students also had a lot of fun counting down to our 100th day of school. We celebrated the day with activities that involved the number 100, such as; writing activities, making a design with 100 pattern blocks, and sharing 100 items from home. The upcoming units will include comparing, ordering, and grouping numbers. The students really enjoy taking part in our math activities! The students are hard at work learning the tricky words. We have currently learned 30 new words. We will continue to learn 2 new tricky words each week. There are many ways you can reinforce the words with your child at home. For example, have your child find words he/she knows on cereal boxes. Please refer to the list on the kindergarten webpage. I am so excited about celebrating the upcoming spring season with the class! ~Mrs. Holmgren |
