“2nd Grade”

Welcome to 2nd Grade!

The first full week of 2nd grade has gone quickly!  I am so excited to report that we have had a perfect week!  We had our first spelling test today and everyone tried their best and did a good job!  We also completed baseline testing for our new reading program.  You will receive the results of those tests next week.  This test will give me an idea of where your child needs extra practice and where, based on a typical 2nd grade student, your child ranks for our reading groups.

Many of the children are a little sleepy during the morning and I’ve encouraged them to bring in a water bottle and a snack to have around 10:00 a.m.  With their parents permission they may bring a healthy snack to have with their morning milk or water.  The water bottles not only encourages good habits of drinking plenty of water, but it will also help with the distraction of getting up to ask for a drink in between our breaks.
